Small businesses typically constitutes a significant proportion of the employment and gross domestic product of most countries. The study of Entrepreneurial finance is important and whether it is micro-finance in a less developed country, emerging economy or market based in a mature economy. Interventions by governments, international aid and funding agencies are all part of the very rich tapestry of entrepreneurial finance and at times the return and risk parameters are not always obvious.

Early publication of this paper is to assist prospective students consider the nature of this first Finance Net Paper and whether it is suitable for them. Accordingly, consider it as a draft. More material will be added to the site prior to the commencement of Semester T. Teaching notes, videos and other resources will be added, week by week, from the start of T semester.

Provide an opportunity to hear a lecture covering the main themes for the week and post questions.

Exercises

Understanding of data sources, comparability and competency in calculations. Competency in explaining theory and methods in own words.

Computer exercise

Development of skills in computational processes and determining the appropriateness of data sources.

The expected workload is 200 hours.

There are assessments based on each week's topics and requires lots of reading and note taking and involves approx - 40 hours.

Preparation for Assessment 1 and Test 1, including 8 to 10 hours reading per week to obtain a good grade requires approx - 100 hours

Prepare for the final test by watching video's - 60 hours of preparation
